The VA's website is full of useful information to help you understand PTSD. It also has an mobile and online app called, PTSD Coach. It teaches you the skills to manage the common symptoms. I teach many of these skills in my psychotherapy practice, too. It is easy to follow, many with short videos. You can use it pretty much anywhere and anytime. You can learn the skills all on your own, if it is important for you to do so. On top of that, your tax dollars have already paid for it, so it is free for you to use now.
The methods VA offer is well researched and supported by science. Even if you plan to seek psychotherapy, learning the skills through their app will shorten the time you will spend in therapy. www.ptsd.va.gov/apps/ptsdcoachonline/
